Next England manager
Obviously this is not really the ideal time to be starting this discussion, but I just saw a list of the next England manager odds and truly realised just how far the British manager has fallen in the game. Hodgson is probably around the same level as the other home nation teams, maybe even below O'Neil, and not seemingly able to get the best out of the attacking talent at his disposal. At the risk of sound harsh, there are times he even reminds me of Allardyce in his tactical inability to break down defensive teams and lack of ideas when attacking.

Who do you see as the next England manager? I live close to Cheltenham at the moment and was amused to hear a conversation earlier of a group of lads declaring that Bilic would make a good manager! n ITV, but next England manager....

The odds don't make for pleasant reading though:

Gareth Southgate 4/1
Alan Pardew 8/1
Gary Neville 8/1
Eddie Howe 12/1
Sam Allardyce 16/1
Brendan Rodgers 16/1
Arsene Wenger 22/1
Jose Mourinho 22/1
Garry Monk 25/1
Mauricio Pochettino 25/1
Steve Bruce 25/1
David Moyes 25/1
Guus Hiddink 25/1
Ryan Giggs 33/1
Sean Dyche 33/1
Paul Clement 33/1
Gary Rowett 33/1
Claudio Ranieri 40/1
Slaven Bilic 40/1
Mark Warburton 50/1
Neil Warnock 50/1
Martin O'Neill 50/1
Carlo Ancelotti 50/1
Roberto Martinez 50/1
Luis Felipe Scolari 50/1
Pep Guardiola 50/1
Stuart Pearce 50/1
Tony Pulis 50/1
Glenn Hoddle 50/1
Harry Redknapp 50/1
Mark Sampson 66/1
Kenny Jackett 66/1
Phil Neville 66/1
David Beckham 66/1
Manuel Pellegrini 66/1
Louis van Gaal 66/1
Tim Sherwood 66/1
Alan Shearer 80/1
John Terry 100/1
Sven-Goran Eriksson 100/1
Frank Lampard 100/1
Nigel Clough 100/1
Roberto Di Matteo 100/1
Steven Gerrard 100/1

Re: Next England manager
Eddie Howe is the man for the job.

International football is going the way of young managers, men who can come in with their own ideas and not be crushed by the weight of media bollocks and what they 'should' do.

Re: Next England manager
I wouldn't be against Howe getting, i think Pardew would also be his own man and pick his own team without FA interference

Re: Next England manager
Alan Pardew & Eddie Howe are the best we can come up with...all the money invested in grass roots football is wasted if we don't have coaches who can compete at the highest level.

Allardyce or Pardew Ok by me...

Or even better...more of the same Barn Owl style...Bluebottle Curbishley...

Of the Foreigners...Ranieri...Ancelotti...Pellegrini...Hiddink...all experienced..successful...know English league & culture...

Best choice ...Bilic...but we Don't want to lose him obviously...!!!

Re: Next England manager
It will be Southgate or Neville.

Definitely not the likes of Pardew who the football world considers to be a complete AH.

Re: Next England manager
for me, Neville needs to manage a club in England before taking a job like that. after having another think id also go for Dyche

Re: Next England manager
Southgate or Neville would just highlight how far England HAVE NOT learnt from the past, both have managed ONE club, both got sacked, both are highly inexperienced and have failed at being the main man, no matter how many coaching badges they have, we need someone whose been around a bit longer in management than these 2 cretins.

The rest of the football world will piss them laughing if either of these 2 gets handed the job, and that will be the next WC down the toilet.

Do you mean someone with the experience of say an Ericson or even a Capello?

Moore than enough!!! 12:24 Thu Jun 23
Re: Next England manager
Someone like Wenger for a tournament would be interesting, contract up next year at Arsenal; one qualifying and world cup campaign maybe?

I think he's wanted a crack at the French national team, but France will probably go quite far this tournament so deschamps will probably stay on.

Although from the names nearer the top of the list; I'd say Howe would be a good shout.
